Vinted Members Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
