Ten found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced accusations of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the first lady's identity.

Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
