A 60-day cruise circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the death of an elderly woman who was left behind by the ship on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been trekking on the remote island with shipmates from the vessel, but parted ways from the party for a break. The vessel sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the ship staff realised the woman was unaccounted for.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her person the following day.
